Mission is to provide information and knowledge not available in the media and academic circles. To build a cyber community of serious minded mulattoes. The following are guidelines every member of will be expected to abide by.
1) Respect your fellow Mulattocomm members.
2) Do not create multiple accounts.
3) Post your message in the most relevant forum. Please review the descriptions under each forum topic to determine which forum a new thread belongs in.
4) Messages containing the following will not be tolerated:
--personal attacks on any Mulattocomm member
--links to pornographic sites
--graphic sexual language or images
--otherwise offensive images
--threats of death or violence
5) No promoting or supporting the one-drop myth. The penalty is automatic explusion from the group.
6) This forum for mature and serious minded mulattoes. So, please write proper grammar and spelling. For instance, the use of "ghetto" slang in posting will be deleted. Anyone who deliberately fails to make themselves understood will be barred from this board.
7) If you disagree with something that another member has written, focus your comments on the content of other’s post, not on their person. Do not attribute motives to them. Do not try to ridicule them. Address yourself only to what they have written. List members are generally mature enough to refute (or just ignore) unacceptable ideas. But anyone can become enraged when attacked personally. Again, this is just advice; the rule is to not antagonize others.
8) In the more intellectual forums. Try to speak towards the readers, not towards the person whose post you are replying to. Third-person address is traditional in scholarly venues. Think of the group as an academic publication for general readers, and the postings as letters to the editor. In other words, each post speaks to the readership as a whole, even if written in response to another’s post (who is referred to in the third person). To get a feeling for how this works, just look at the letters to the editors of any professional journal. This is the style you should strive towards for on-topic posts. It is more formal, and so it tends to keep disputes from becoming personal. This does not mean that you will inevitably be put on probation if you use the second person singular. It certainly does not mean that you can freely insult someone if you avoid second person singular. It simply means that you are less likely to accidentally offend someone if you speak to the readers rather than directly to another member. Again, this is just advice; the rule is to not antagonize others.
9) If you feel that these guidelines are not being followed, or that a user's behavior is being overlooked, please use the private messaging system to contact a moderator with the link to the post(s) in question if possible.
Mulattocomm's moderators are responsible for determining what falls and does not fall within these guidelines. If a user is not falling within the guidelines, is abusing their privileges as an Mulattocomm member, or is acting in an otherwise destructive manner, that user will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderating team. This can include warnings, editing/deleting of posts, and/or temporary suspension of posting privileges. If a user continually repeats this behavior, they may be permanently banned.
Occasionally, if agreed on by a majority of the moderating team, actions may be taken against behavior that is not necessarily listed within these guidelines. Use common sense.
If you feel that a moderator has been unfair in their actions against you or another member, please use the private message function to discuss the issue. You may contact the moderator directly, another moderator, or the Site Administrator . The Administrator can also be emailed directly at mulattocommunity@yahoo.com .
With this understanding, we welcome you and look forward to hearing from you.
